In partnership with the municipal council of Agadir and the Royal Institute of Amazigh culture,and with the support of the Regional Council Souss-Massa, alongside the Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM), the association “Issni N’Ourgh” organizes the 12th edition of the Issni N’Ourgh International Amazigh Film Festival (FINIFA) from 5 to 9 April in Agadir.
Issni N’Ourgh remains faithful the city of Agadir as a capital of Amazigh culture in Morocco through the official opening of five days for cinema lovers advocating cultural exchange and the spirit of tolerance through a copious filmography from Belgium, Canada, France, Algeria, Canary Islands, Netherlands, and Morocco. It will make the capital of the Souss a multi-faceted space where can express the forces of the city and artists of all sides: intellectuals, poets, painters, musicians, drama actors, comedians.
Rachid Mochou, director of the festival, said that:” this event became as an alternative practice to thwart the industrial machine that has universalized the artistic taste”.. Rachid Bouqsim the Artistic director of the festival added: “The event could develop fruitful partnerships at the global level, The long film committee will be headed by the university professor and the anthropologist Fadhma Ait Mouss. And Kamal Hammadi the Algerian writer and artist will be headed the short film committee.
For this edition, 26 films will be nominated to win the grand Issni N’Ourgh award, as well as other prizes, namely the” Ihya Idder” prize for the best short film (appellation retained since the 11th edition of the FINIFA), best male performer, Best Actress Award, Best Screenplay Award, Best Achievement Award, and Best Documentary Award, as part of the official competition of this 12th edition of FINIFA. It is an eclectic selection, which showcases multiple cinematographic universes reflecting the multi-color spectrum of the globe.
These participations represent the feature film (documentaries and fiction) with 9 films, the short film (documentary and fiction) with 17 films. It should be noted that of the 26 films in competition, 3 are made by women. And like previous editions, two films will be presented in the “out of competition”: Problem Shepherds by Mohamed Rahal and” Adios Carmen” by Mohammed Amin Benaamraou…Moreover, two great Amazigh artists will be honored ;Fatima Bikrkar and Fares Sourour Concerned with the interest to the younger generations, captivated by the seventh art, and who militate to water their thirsts, the FNIFIA organizes for those interested in art, cinema, university students to offer them meetings for training, exhibitions, and interventions
