The rise in the price of fuel deepens the financial problems of freight forwarding companies in Morocco

The remarkable increases in fuel prices in Morocco, which amounted to 25 cents for gasoline and 27 cents for gasoline, contributed to the deepening of the financial problems in which companies operating in the field of freight forwarding at the national level are floundering.

This rise in fuel prices led to an increase in the financial operational costs of the contracting companies, as the percentage of gasoil cost in the total operating cost increased by about 60 percent; This caused a decrease in the profit margins achieved by freight forwarding companies.

Adel Al-Dahouki, acting president of the National Transport Federation of the General Confederation of Moroccan Contracting, considered that this rise in gas prices has caused more financial problems in which companies working in the field of transporting goods have been floundering since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Acting President of the National Federation of Transport added, in a statement to Hespress, that the negative effects of the pandemic are still casting a shadow on the cargo shipping sector; This is evident from the decline in the volume of customer requests, as the number of trips undertaken by professional companies does not exceed three trips as a weekly average.

In his statement to Hespress, Al-Dahouki stressed the need for the new government to adopt the professional gas system, which is the only solution to help and keep pace with Moroccan companies operating in the sector, and thus get them out of the financial crisis in which most of these companies specialized in shipping goods are floundering.

Jamal Zarikom, President of the National University of Owners and Merchants of Gas Stations in Morocco, said that there are factors behind the increases in fuel prices, which ranged between 25 and 27 centimes for gasoline and gasoline, respectively, which are represented in the rises witnessed in the global fuel market.

The President of the National University of Owners and Merchants of Gas Stations in Morocco explained, in a statement to Hespress, that the price increases are behind the fuel import and distribution companies in Morocco, and that the owners and dealers of gas stations have nothing to do with the issue, whose profit margin does not exceed 35 centimes per liter, which is a fixed margin that is not is moving.
