The report also reports a decline in the average household size of 4.7 to 4.4 persons per household between 2012 and 2017, noting that this decline has been accompanied by an increase in the weight of households headed by households. wife.
Morocco is distinguished by “an advanced demographic transition characterized by a decline in fertility and pronounced aging in the years to come,” said the Observatory.
The data from the household panel show that this process has effects on the demographic structure of Moroccan families that tend more and more towards “a nuclearization of households and a transformation of the age pyramid”. In addition, the demographic weight of the population aged under 15 is decreasing (from 29% to 28.5% respectively), while that of the population aged 60 and over perpetuates its increase from 9 , 8% to 10.8%, said the same source.
