{"id":1133,"date":"2018-10-12T07:25:28","date_gmt":"2018-10-12T06:25:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.moroccomedianews.ma\/en\/?p=1133"},"modified":"2018-10-12T07:25:28","modified_gmt":"2018-10-12T06:25:28","slug":"snapchat-launches-original-video-series-but-problems-loom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.moroccomedianews.ma\/en\/2018\/10\/snapchat-launches-original-video-series-but-problems-loom\/","title":{"rendered":"Snapchat launches original video series but problems loom"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"io-post-marker\" style=\"display:none\"><\/div><div class=\"c-article-content js-article-content article__content selectionShareable\">\n<p>Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, unveiled a series of original shows on Wednesday as it continues to push into original content amid broader challenges around user growth and advertising revenue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"c-article-content js-article-content article__content selectionShareable\">\n<p>The project, called &#8220;Snap Originals,&#8221; will start with 12 shows featuring a mix of scripted series and reality content, including a comedy from the Duplass brothers and a reality show from the creators of &#8220;Keeping Up with the Kardashians.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Snapchat has previously looked to partner with media companies to bring original shows and news content into its app, primarily through its Discover section, which\u00a0launched in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GWevfgANJNk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The shows will also have an interactive aspect.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Snap Originals will also feature new Show Portals, letting you swipe up and step inside a scene from a Show to experience it for yourself,&#8221; Snap Snap Originals will also have Lenses, Filters, and other fun ways for you to share the show experience with your friends.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes as Snapchat has struggled to recover from\u00a0a redesign that resulted in backlash from users\u00a0and concern from investors for the company&#8217;s future. On Wednesday, Snapchat shares hit a record low, trading down 5 percent at $6.64 per share.<\/p>\n<p>Snapchat went public in March 2017\u00a0at $17 per share.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The clock is certainly ticking for Snap to turn its business around,&#8221; wrote Michael Nathanson, senior research analyst at research firm MoffettNathanson, in an analyst note.<\/p>\n<p>Snap CEO Evan Spiegel has publicly acknowledged the company&#8217;s struggles,\u00a0telling investors earlier this yearthe app&#8217;s redesign has &#8220;created some headwinds in our revenue&#8221; and also &#8220;some apprehension among our advertising partners.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Snap has also had to endure stagnant user growth combined with aggressive competition from Facebook-owned Instagram, whichleapfrogged Snap\u00a0with a copycat version of its Stories feature.<\/p>\n<p>The company has also recently endued the departure of\u00a0several major executives\u00a0including its chief financial officer, chief strategy officer and head of communications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Snap, the parent company of Snapchat, unveiled a series of original shows on Wednesday as it continues to push into original content amid broader challenges around user growth and advertising revenue.
